Evaluation of final opening of our film

In what way does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

Our film that we are creating will be of a teen genre.  There are four repertoire of elements that we have to meet to make this a teen movie. They are, iconography, stock characters, stock settings and naratives and theme.

link  back to the naratives and themes……….

How does your media product represent particular social groups?

The group that we have chosen for the opening of our  film is teenagers.

There are a boy and a girl they are very different here is a line from the film …………………

The boy ordered a steak and said he wanted no salad, and the girl at the same time was ordering a vegemite sandwich with a smoothie. this happend when they was  on the  phone to room service…………

This is the veggie girl, she calls up room service and orders a vegemite sandwich with a smoothie.

This is the meat eater , he calls up room service aswell and orders steak and said he wanted no salad.

What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why ?

Iwould like Tim Bevan, Eric Fellner and Diana Phillips to produce my film. As it is a teen movie and they have produced one of my favourite teen movies wild child, Which i have done  texual analysis on already……..

The link to my textual analysis of wild child….

The reason why this film would be successful, is if they would have produced my film it wouldbe very popular with teenagers. Wild child has a very well known cast e.g emma roberts, alex pettyfer, natasha richardson, sophie wu, aidan quinn, shirley henderson, kinberley nixon, linzey cocker, juni temple, lexi ainsworth and shelby young, they were all the main characters in the film. They are all very well known to the film industry.

who would be the audience for your media product?

We first started our group blog with talking about the genre of our film, we have chosen our film to be a 12A.             Also the actors in the opening film are teenagers .

This is nthe criteria for a 12A: this is from the bbfc website……..

Exactly the same criteria are used to classify works at ’12A’ and ’12’. These categories are awarded where the material is suitable,  in general, only for those aged 12 and over. Works classified at these categorise may upset children under 12 or may contain material which many parents will find unsuitable for them.

The ’12A’ category exists only for cinema film, no one younger then 12 may see a ’12A’ film in a cinema unless accompained by an adult, and films classified ’12A’ are not recommended for a child below 12. An adult mat take a young child if,in their judgement, the film is suitable for that particular child.

In such circumstances, responsibility for following a child under 12 to view lies with the accompanying adult.

How did you attract / address your audience?

At the start of the film after the universal bit finishes there is a little bit of spanish theme music, this tells the audience that they are on holiday. Then  there is a shots reverse shot as the female character is ordering room service, and the male character would  be ordring something from room service they do the same thing but say the  opposite.

What have you learnt about technologies from construsting this product ?

My job for the premilary task was to do the story bord, that was quite difficult because i had to make it look like the room we filmed in whih was quite hard but i got it done. With the opening film the one we are doing now i had to do the story borad aswell, i do art anyway so it was an advantage. That story borad was very hard to draw because we had to swap location and what we had the actors doing we had to chagne so it wasnt so long, i had to try and make it look like the location which was a travel lodge which was quite hard to draw because i didnt know what it looked like till i went and had a look.

When we start filming you need to do more than one take, and you need to make sure that all the equipment is working and everyone knows how to use it and verything is on and running. make sure that the lighting works in your location and it is quiet while you film.

I have also learnt how to use the I MACS at first they were very difficult to use but i got the hang of it. there is so much you can do to edit the film just on the mac you can do anything to make your film sound and look better. gargeband was quite difficult at first to know how everything works and where everything is.

Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression it to the full product?

The most important thing I have learnt from my preliminary is that you should plan before you do anything, you can then go on and think of the bigger picture. Also I have learnt that team work is one of the biggest things in this  project such as making a movie.  My job in this task was the story board mainly because i do art it was a big advantage.

What the opening film was about!

The opening of our film i felt went quite well. We spent a lot of time editing which made it more exiting to watch. We most of the shots of the girl as we wanted to show the boy and girl were in different rooms which were next to each other. We did this so that the audience knew they were in separate rooms but also they were doing the same thing as each other at the same time.

We had to show how opposite they were but also make it kind of obvious that they were going to fall in love.  An example of this was where the boy ordered a steak and said he wanted no salad, and the girl at the same time was ordering a vegebite sandwich with a smoothie.

We chose to have non-diegetic music only at the start of the opening because there was a lot of dialogue. The music we chose had a sort of Spanish theme to it because it lets the audience know that they were in a different country to England.

Preliminary task !

Preliminary exercise evaluation !

Evaluation of the preliminary exercise….

The brief: you had to use the 180 degree rule, you had to use shot reverse shot, you have to use match on action, exchange a few lines of dialogue, you have to have someone opening a door, walking across a room and sitting down opposite another character.

There was 4 people in this exercise, Becca, Ryan, Jared and Me. We ticked all the boxes of the brief but here are some things we could have done better:  We could have……………

Changed the location to make it more believable and clear the room of all props before starting. Have more roles where everyone is involved. Better match on action. More confidence in yourself to make the best performance . Better use of equipment. Our final piece was called bad life, it was based on a interview in a police station. I was the police officer questioning the criminal which was Jared. I was questioning him about murdering Mr kibble, and he confessed to the murder and was charged.

Editing : we put a title at the begging, we had to cut some of the scenes because they were to long and we also put in a little bit of music.

welcome :)

In my blog, I will be recording  what I will be doing  for the the 2 minute film i will be doing in my group. I will also be putting all of the research and stuff about my film on this blog. My group and I are  doing a film that will  be aimed at teens as the people in my group are teenagers, and as we are teens we also know what teen want to see in a film.

Half term work……. Teen movie – wild child !

The camera is panning out of the universal logo at the start of the film, the music is suited to the entrance of the film. Then the scene goes into a grey sort of colour background with a little light shinning through, then a drawing starts to happen and then the drawing starts to move in all different sorts of ways, then it has the   “ working title” appears, this shows the company which helps to make the film and sponsors it. Then the working title sort of fades into a sea blue colour and has the words “ universal pictures presents” in a white lettering to stand out from the blue background.

Then the scene carefully fades into the girls (poppy) bedroom window and pans toward her while she is laying in bed asleep. then it has some soothing  non – diegetic music which is really gentle and calming and also getting closer and closer to the girls face.

Then there is some dialogue and she gets out of bed and this fast up beat         non– diegetic music comes on. Then we jump to a looking room shot as she jumps out of bed the title of the film slides in on the left hand side of the screen as she is walking out of her room. Then there is a over shoulder shot of her looking at a   calendar on the wall, then some dialogue

Then the camera jumps to a shot down stairs where her sister is making food and listening to her Ipod, the music on the Ipod is the same music that was begin played while she got out of bed, now the music is diegetic because the characters can hear it. Then there is a few lines of dialogue and a close up of the food her  sister is making.

Then there is a over shoulder shot of poppy pulling her sisters earphones out of her ears and then the music stops. over shoulder shot of  her sister talking to poppy, then jumps to a over shoulder shot of poppy talking back to her sister, there is also shot reverse shots when they are talking. Then there is a close up of poppy cutting bread.

Then it jumps to out side where there are men opening up the back of a lorry with lots of boxes and stuff in there. Jumps to a lot of teenagers walking out of poppy’s house, then all the men look round and stare at them, then there is a few lines of dialogue. Then there is a lot out shouting and there is match on action with all the boxes coming out of the lorry.

There is a lot of dialogue with in the first 3 minutes of this film.

Hello everyone <3
